Purpose
Arecanut is the important cash crop of Mizoram. However one of the main problems being faced by plantation owners and farmers is that the peeling of such nuts is very tedious and laborious work that makes it uneconomical sometimes for them. To overcome this problem the innovator had come up with portable designs for the peeling of such nuts and had even experimented many times with rough prototypes.
Technical Details
The design works on the principle of scraping the husk covering on a rotating blade driven by 1/2 hp electric motor. There are 26 fixed slots. Each nut is kept in a separate slot while the machine starts. the rotating blades peel off the nuts in their own slot. The

innovation introduces a new technology for the peeling of Arecanuts which is safe, easy to operate, cost-effective and minimizes drudgery to a large extent.
