The traditional knowledge holder has suggested treatment for diarrhoea.
Disease symptoms: Abdominal cramps, an urgency to go to the toilet, frequent passing of loose, watery faeces, nausea.
Ingredients: 100 g fruit of Safed Ghurmanta (
Solanum nigrum L.).
Preparation: Wash and grind the fruits to prepare a paste.
Dosage/Application: Feed the 50 g of paste to the affected animal once daily till relief.
Ingredients' availability: Plant is available in nearby places.
Prior Art Search: In Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha, the fruit of
S. nigrum is reported for its antidiarrhoeal activity (Khare, 2008). Also, the ethanolic plant extract of
S. nigrum is recorded as non-toxic in Balb/c mice up to the dose of 5000 mg/kg (Rumiyati et al., 2015).
