Innovation Description

Profile
Mr. Biswanath Vishwakarma is from the Nalanda district of Bihar. He has studied up to 9th standard. He owns a small workshop in Noorsarai in which, he fabricates door & window grills, tractor trolleys, rotavators, and other small agricultural tools.

Purpose
Previously, the innovator was facing labour problem that was affecting fabrication, especially in metal cutting work. He was not able to complete orders in the given time. So, his son gave him an idea to make an automatic machine that can cut any metal easily.

Technical details
The machine consists of an electric motor (3 hp, single phase), belt & pulley, a hydraulic pump, hose pipe, frame, hydraulic oil storage, control levers, hydraulic ram, a pressing plate, a fixed plate, and three cutting sections. The belt and pulley arrangement is done between the output of the electric motor and the hydraulic pump shaft. The hydraulic oil storage section is embedded on the side of the frame body. One hydraulic hose pipe is given on the suction section pump while at the delivery point, the hydraulic hose pipe is connected to the control lever section. The hydraulic pipe from the control lever is connected to the ram and another pipe is connected between the hydraulic ram and hydraulic oil storage section. A pressing plate with a different upper cutting slot edge is present and it is connected to the hydraulic ram by a rod passing through the ram and fabricated over the plate at both sides. The cutting edge is resent on the cutting slot. There is also a lower side plate which is fixed. Two sliding slots are present on both sides of the inner frame of the system.

When the motor gets started, the motion transfers from the output of the motor to the input shaft of the hydraulic by the belt and pulley system. The hydraulic oil required for this machine is 5-6 L. The hydraulic pump generates pressure and supplies to hydraulic ram through the control lever by taking oil from the oil storage section. The control lever controls the flow of hydraulic oil. The supply of the hydraulic oil to the ram causes the ram to move downward and ram press the pressing plate. The pressing plate moves only in the vertical direction and slides between two sliding slots but the fixed plate one having slots is being fixed. The pressing plate moves against the fixed one. If any metal rod, angle bar or metal sheets is inserted in between the respective slots, the pressing plate cut them precisely with the help of its forces against the fixed plate and its cutting edge. He claims the machine can cut more than 200 pieces of the iron bar in one hour.

Benefits
It has different slots to cut different iron bars and sheets precisely. It is compact in size, easy to use, and economically viable.
