Profile
Innovator Mr. G. K. Ratnakar hails from the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka.  He is from an agricultural family. 

Purpose
Mr. G. K. Ratnakar developed a turbine for self-power generation in rural areas.

Technical details
The turbine is adopted Pelton wheel rotating technology. When water crush by force though nozzle peloton wheel starts rotating on a customized RPM level. The Pelton wheel connected to the alternator by V- belt makes the alternator to work and power is generated on the alternator. Such power is distributed for transmission through wires for various appliances.

Benefits
It is designed for remote areas where it is not possible for the state government to provide electricity through conventional transmission lines, it is eco friendly, use of natural water in the turbine, the remaining water can be used for agriculture and low noise level produced by this system and it is a renewable source of energy.
