Innovation Description
Profile
The innovator Mr. Rahul Chavda is from the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. He completed his graduation with Bachelor in Arts. He is a farmer and has always seen his family members engaged in agriculture since he was born. Most of the time he faces the shortage of agricultural labor during the peak season. Some of the farmers of his village were in search of a machine that could wash, clean, sort and grade the ivy gourds since they wanted to increase their production and they mentioned that the production of ivy gourd is not a very difficult task rather its processing is the most time consuming and laborious task.
Purpose
Mr.Chavda has developed a post-harvest machine for ivy gourd crops that can wash, clean, sort, and grade it so that farmers could get the proper price for their vegetables and improve their earnings.
Technical details
This machine can be operated with the help of both motors as well as a diesel engine. A gearbox of gear ratio 20:1 is used to reduce the rpm. Four rubber belts and seven pulleys have been used. A blower is used for the first stage cleaning. On the top side, a roller is fixed to take out the raw material that gets stuck during the operation. The grader net is made up of the Europen Foam Sheet.
Performance
The machine requires very little water for cleaning nearly about 50 ml water to clean 1 kg of ivy gourd. It consumes 1.5 liters of diesel in 1 hour when operated on diesel engines and 1-2 units of electricity when operated with the motor.
Benefits
It saves time, effort, and is easy to use. It requires very little water and sorts the ivy gourds into various grades effectively.
