Innovation Description
Profile
Innovator Mr. Hilal Ahmad Sofi is a resident of the Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Purpose
Mr. Sofi has come up with the idea to convert seawater into freshwater.
Technical details
In this innovation, the water pump is fitted in the sea which gets water and fills in a tank through a pipe. A converting lens is attached to the top of the converter and the sun rays fall on the converting lens. Seawater gets heated resulted in condensation and evaporation. The water drops during evaporation collected into water cups on either side of the converter. The condensation process turns the water vapour into fresh and cold water. Water is collected into a separate water tank as pure water.
Benefits
It is the easiest way to get pure water from seawater. It is economical and requires less energy. It is feasible for those who live alone on the seashore.
